Homework
Take Home Folders
I hope to have many opportunities to communicate with you throughout the school year. One means of communication will be the “Take Home Folder.” This will be a pocket folder in which the children’s homework, class work, incomplete work, important notices from the classroom/school, and parent notes will be sent. Please establish a routine of checking the folder each evening for things that may have been sent home. Return the folder to school each morning with your child. I will instruct the children to deliver any messages from you directly to me every morning.
Student Planners
Students will write in their planners daily. This is where they will write down their homework for the night and any reminders we have for the following school day. Students will also write their spelling words in their planners. Again, establish a routine of a checking the planner each evening to keep up with what the homework is along with any updates.
Homework
Homework should not take longer than 15 minutes to complete. If your child is having difficultly completing the assignments then there might be a more serious learning or behavior issue that we need to address together. Students are usually not given homework on Fridays. If homework is missing, just practice something at home that your child needs help with. Students could read a story and write a few sentences about the book. Students could practice writing their spelling words. I will take whatever students practiced at home, as the missing homework assignment.
Any assignment with a “U“ grade should be corrected and returned the following day. Students will be given extra points for correcting "U" grades.
